Documentary Sources of Maltese History (DSMH), Part 1: Notarial Documents, No. 5

Now Available at the Reduced Price of €30 instead of €50 for a Limited Time Only (ends 8 May)

The Notarial Archives Foundation is pleased to announce that the latest volume in the Documentary Sources of Maltese History (DSMH) series is now available for purchase.

Published in collaboration with Malta University Press and edited by Professor Stanley Fiorini, this twentieth volume in the series and the fifth within Part I: Notarial Documents presents ninety notarial documents dating between 1516 and 1531, drawn from the registers of Notary Giacomo Bondin.

Carefully transcribed and supported by detailed indices, the volume offers valuable insight into Malta’s social, linguistic, and institutional history, while serving as an important resource for scholars, students, and researchers.

Besides the archival sources themselves, the volume also reconstructs the social and professional context of Notary Giacomo Bondin, situating him within broader administrative, commercial, and intellectual networks. This insight sheds light onto the dynamics of social status, economic activity, and cultural life in Malta at the time, including the years surrounding the arrival of the Order of St John.
